ST.THOMAS COLLEGE HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL,Thrissur is an aided Higher secondary school located in Thrissur city, the cultural capital of Kerala.
This school was founded in 1889 by fr.Meulecott in the early-20th century. This school is the oldest catholic school in Kerala.This school was established by first vicar Apostle of Thrissur.It was at first only a lower secondary school,primarily intended for resident ecclesiastical students.subsequently it became a high school in 1894 under the managership of fr.Zambanelli,an Italian missionary, the naming of the school as college by and that, too after St.Thomas, the apostle of India was therefore, symbolic of the mission the school was to shoulder in subsequent years.The junior intermediate class was opened on 8th june 1919 with 96 students and 5 teachers and in 1919 the inaugural ceremony of the St.Thomas College was held under the presidency of his Highness sir Sri.Ramavarma, the Maharaja of Cochin.
It was at the time, which the contemporant's like fr.Johan palokaran,who was the rule charioteer of college and fr.Pulokaran, who was the rule charioteer of H.S section in 1927 was a golden epoch about st.Thomas college.In this year the famous freedom struggler, great leader and became the father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi visit the st.thomas college and transact a speech to his beloved people.Fr.Antony Thalapilly who is the successor of Fr.Pulokaran gave importance to the sports in this school.As a result. St. Thomas college won to brought many football players of this school in international level.
Today this institute and was its branch, presently named St.Thomas Thope H.S School makes a good rate in sports.
On March in 1988, in SSLC examination all the 65 students were passed and the school reach in cent success.
On January in 1989 this school's inaguration was celebrate with many function's .On October in 1994 a part this school was fallen down. In 1995-1997 years with the lack of space this school was shifted and tried to build a new building and in 1996 on April 13 bishop mar.Joseph kudukulam blessed the main stone of this school.when the school had completed 110 years, the new school was inaugrated by fr.Jacob Thukuzy and The Educational Minister Sri.P.J. Joseph in 1997 on 21th Feburay.
In 2000,on june26 this school rised into a higher secondary school. Now in this school there are three science and two commerce batches were functioing respectively.
This school which situated under the rulership of Archdiocese of Thrissur, functioning with a specified aim to give importance to not only the education of the students but also to their good behaviour formation and help them to grow as a good citizen. When compare the educational statics of this institute, this school maintain a grate position in education and decipline.
This school got many credits like cent percent in SSLC Examinations of years like 1987,88,2007,08,09,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17. From 1990 onwards this institute had possible to maintain a good percent in all Subjects in SSLC Examinations.From 2000 onwards this institute maintain the First position in
H. S section in Corporate Educational Agency, Archdiocese of Thrissur.
In 2003-2004 in +2 Examination, this Institute achieve highest Percent in Corporate educational agency and maintain 1st position in Higher Secondary section.In 2006,08,12,13 years in sections like commerce and science, this institute achieves Cent percent and become 1st position in district level.This institute also maintain a well good position in sports .in 2014-2015 this institute selected as the excellent school in sports in revenue district level.as a result in 2009 St.Thomas Athlete Academy was formed and continued its function very well.The college offers graduate, postgraduate and Ph.D.-level programmes in a wide range of subjects. There are nineteen teaching departments (including the nine research departments and the twelve postgraduate departments) that encompassed 140 teachers.

This Department offers bachelor's degrees and master's degrees in Physics.
In the year 1955, the Degree Course in B.A. Statistics was started under the Dept. of Mathematics and Statistics affiliated to the University of Madras. The B.A. Course was converted to three year B.Sc. course in Statistics in 1958 under the University of Kerala. The Department of Statistics was established in the year 1984. This department offers bachelor's degrees, Master's degrees and Doctoral Studies.The Department of library is one of the largest and oldest college libraries in Kerala. It is divided into four sections: General, Science, English and a separate section for the self-financing courses in Jubilee Block. The General section holds general, multidisciplinary, language and literature books in Malayayalam, Sanskrit and Hindi along with the books in humanities and social sciences. This section also has a rich collection of reference books. The Science section contains volumes in natural, physics and mathematical sciences. The English section possesses resources in English languagesand litereture. The Self Financing Section of the library has books in the disciplines of social work, Electronics, computer applications, Buiseness and Medies studios.
